Sydney’s Taronga Zoo has opened its new restaurant Me-Gal located within the Wildlife Retreat, which will be overseen by catering firm Trippas White.

The restaurant has its own entrance and offers a natural, bushland setting with views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House and city.

The menu led by executive chef Stefan Schröder has a strong focus on seasonality, while group sommelier Louella Mathews is in charge of the wine list, which also favours local offerings.

General manager Hoanh Giang said the focus at Me-Gal is on sustainable dining.

“When crafting the offering for Me-Gal we drew inspiration from its unique location and the Australian native fauna that surrounds it,” Giang said.

“We wanted to develop a destination dining experience which is aligned with the Wildlife Retreat experience.”
