Tourism New Zealand is searching for top academics, industry trailblazers and association leaders to bid for and host international conferences in New Zealand.

“We want to inspire our top thinkers to come forward and bid for these prestigious events. Tourism New Zealand’s experienced Business Event team offers strategic funding and support to help them throughout the process,” said Tourism New Zealand general manager domestic & business events Bjoern Spreitzer.

“Attracting engaged bid champions amongst our academia and industry leaders is integral to demonstrating New Zealand’s attractiveness as a knowledge destination and to winning international conferences.”

To attract bid champions, Tourism New Zealand is running the 2022 Calling for You campaign, featuring pioneers and visionaries in sectors ranging from education to evolutionary computation, public health, and robot learning, all of whom have successfully bid for a major international conference in their field of expertise.

The 2022 bid champions include Minas Liarokapis (University of Auckland), host of the Conference on Robot Learning; Bing Xue (Victoria University), host of the IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation; Sione Tu’itahi (Health Promotion Forum of New Zealand), host of the IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion; and Cheryl Brown and Kathryn MacCullum (University of Canterbury), hosts of the Australasian Society for Computers in Learning in Tertiary Education.
