New GM and exec chef for Lizard Island

Lizard Island has appointed Paul Papanicolaou as general manager for the Far North Queensland resort.

Hailing from New Zealand, Papanicolaou was previously general manager of Surfers Paradise Marriot Resort, and spent six years at the helm of Saudi Arabia’s Mövenpick Resort.

The resort also has new executive chef, with Mark Penna overseeing the menu at Saltwater Restaurant.

Lizard Island executive director Greg Magi said he was thrilled with the new additions to the staff.

“When you live and work on an island, your team become your friends and family, so we’re very selective with who we invite into the fold,” he said.

“We’re confident that both Paul and Mark will be valuable additions to island culture, as well as inspiring leaders who bring the best out of their crew.”
