A new event space in Lake Macquarie with a capacity for 30,000 has been given the go ahead.
The site on the former Morisset Country Club golf course will be developed by the Cedar Mill Group, with the council voting unanimously to approve the development of the entertainment facility.
“The development will have positive economic benefits for the Morisset and the city, facilitating exciting new tourism and entertainment opportunities,” said Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser.
“It will create jobs in the area and generate significant flow-on benefits for local tourism operators, hospitality vendors, equipment providers and other businesses that support and supply the event industry.”
Josh Sattler, the CEO of Dantia, The Lake Macquarie Economic Development Company, said the new development is part of Morisset’s growth plans.
“This is a state-significant tourism development that will cast Morisset in an exciting new light and showcase our city to visitors from across NSW, interstate and overseas,” said Sattler.
The new venue is expected to host outdoor performances for audiences of up to 30,000 as well as a range of events and functions.
