NSW’s art and cultural institutions and independent artists will receive $1 million in financial support to stage next year’s inaugural Sydney WorldPride Festival.
Running from February 17 until March 5, the event is expected to attract thousands of international visitors to celebrate the global LGBTQIA+ community, on what will be the 45th anniversary of Sydney’s first Mardi Gras Parade.
Individuals and groups are invited to apply for a share of the funding through Create NSW to stage any artform from First Nations arts, visual arts, and theatre, to dance, literature, and the multi-arts.
As a centrepiece of the first WorldPride held in the Asia Pacific, the Human Rights Conference will be held at ICC Sydney.
“The NSW Government is proud to support and celebrate Sydney WorldPride Festival, the most internationally celebrated LGBTQIA+ festival in the world, which will strengthen Sydney’s reputation as a global and inclusive city,” said Arts Minister Ben Franklin.
Funding applications close Friday, 29 April 2022.
