Virgin Australia’s new chief executive Jayne Hrdlicka says she is committed to keeping the carrier’s HQ in Brisbane as she outlined her plans for the future.
Hrdlicka also said the carrier would focus on the “mid-market” sector to cater to a more “price conscious” demographic as the country emerges from the travel restrictions.
“Australia already has a low-cost-carrier and a traditional full-service airline, and we won’t be either,” she said.
“Virgin Australia will be a mid-market carrier appealing to customers who are after a great value airfare and better service.”
Virgin has just emerged after seven months of voluntary administration which saw it shed 3500 jobs.
“We have to be in a position where our costs are very low, where our costs are tightly managed and we use good discipline in the way we make decisions because that is what will enable us to take the ups and downs in the industry,” she said.
