The Vibe Hotel Hobart is set to open in November after incurring a number of delays in construction due to the pandemic.
Originally due to open mid-year, the 4.5 star hotel will offer 135 rooms, a ground-floor restaurant, pool, gym, three levels of commercial space and conference space.
“We’ve not been able to get the number of interstate workers over that we need and so things have slowed down,” Richard Doedens, managing director of developer Raadas Property, told The Mercury.
“Also with restrictions still in place, it’s been slow getting goods and materials on to the site via Melbourne especially.
“There’s a bit of work to finish still – the local contractors are all working pretty hard to get it all done on time. We’re working as hard as we can, but these unavoidable delays make it challenging.”
The new Vibe will join Crowne Plaza Hobart which opened in July. Accor’s Mövenpick hotel has yet to announce a new opening date after originally scheduled to open in April while Marriott’s Tasman Hobart will now open its doors in March 2021.
