The South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) is winding back its event sponsorship spending and axing the Great State Voucher scheme in an effort to save $17.6 million over the next four years.
The SATC event subsidy spend will be cut from $19 million this financial year to $18.5 million in 2023, $12.5 million in 2024 and $7.5 million in 2025.
“While we are talking about different events, we made a quite significant announcement during the election … of the additional $40 million fund over four years for the Major Events Fund, which is under the banner of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet,” said Tourism Minister Zoe Bettison.
“That will also be available to grow homegrown events and to grow our existing owned and managed events.”
The SATC will also find $4.76 million in savings next financial year to help fund the Malinauskas Government’s election commitments.
