QT hotel planned for St Kilda

The Erdi Group is planning to bring Event’s QT hotel brand to St Kilda.

The proposed new hotel would replace the 80-room Rydges St Kilda.

Speaking to The Australian Financial Review, Erdi Group chief executive officer Ricky Jeffs said the hotel “will have an amazing rooftop bar”.

“We’re likely to start construction in mid-2020 with an opening in the first quarter of 2021,” he said.

Erdi said he hopes the new hotel would bring about a renaissance in St Kilda, describing it as “a vibrant place”.

“It should be one of the best destinations in Melbourne,” he told the AFR.

Norman Arundel, Event’s director of hotel and resort operations, said they were always “actively looking for the right locations to extend the QT footprint”.

“We currently manage Rydges St Kilda and have forged a strong relationship with the Erdi Group,” he said in a statement. “We are aware of the interest in converting this property to a QT, and look forward to further discussion with the owners.”
