Ticketmaster is looking at a number of ways to safeguard the return of events including linking COVID-19 vaccination and test results to digital event tickets.
The “potential idea” does come with a raft of privacy concerns though, with Ticketmaster saying the data would be stored with a secure, third-party health care provider.
While not compulsory, the option would be at the discretion of event organisers, according to the ticketing giant.
Speaking to News Corp, Ticketmaster president Mark Yovich said there could be “many third-party health care providers handling vetting…which could then be linked via a digital ticket so everyone entering the event is verified”.
“Ticketmaster’s goal is to provide enough flexibility and options that venues and fans have multiple paths to return to events, and is working to create integrations to our API and leading digital ticketing technology as we will look to tap into the top solutions based on what’s green-lit by officials and desired by clients,” he said.
