Plans for a new tourism precinct on Phillip Island have been revealed including a 160-room hotel, large-scale event space, ground floor F&B facilities, signature restaurant, wellness centre and pool deck.

The plans lodged by national hospitality group CLG and developers Moda are for a 8,600sqm parcel of land that was once home to Phillip Island’s first hotel, the Isle of Wight, which opened in 1870 before being destroyed by a fire in 1925 and again, in 2010.

“The Isle of Wight Hotel was an icon of Cowes for many decades,” said Moda managing director Ed Farquharson.

“We’re looking forward to capturing the nostalgia and spirit of the original hotel and bringing it back to life with new energy for a whole new generation.”

CLG CEO Tim Fitzgerald said they were excited to bring about a new era for tourism on the island and raise the bar for accommodation, dining and entertainment in regional Victoria.
