Adelaide CBD hotels have passed the 10,000 rooms milestone as confidence in the city’s tourism sector continues to grow.

The number of hotel rooms in Adelaide’s CBD has surged 18 per cent since the pandemic hit with more new openings on the horizon including the Vibe Hotel Adelaide and TRYP Hotel which are set to open next month.

Next year will see further openings including the much anticipated Marriott Hotel on the GPO site and Ramada Hotel debut in the City of Playford.

The state’ s visitor economy is recovering strongly reaching $7.3 billion for the year to September 2022, almost double from its $4.4 billion low in 2021. Pre-Covid, the state hit a high of $8.1 billion in 2019.

Speaking to The Advertiser, Eos by SkyCity general manager Jodi Brown said the strong event calendar was a major part of the recovery.

“We are certainly feeling positive about the upcoming quarter as we move into festival season, and then continuing into April, which is set to be a huge month with Easter, Gather Round and LIV Golf, of which we will be a key accommodation partner,” she said.

“May is also looking favourable with a number of key corporate travel groups. We are seeing direct flights into Adelaide increasing, and the SATC continuing to spend on driving visitation to South Australia.”
