Plans have been unveiled for a new 20-storey luxury hotel in Wollongong.
The new build 5-star hotel is planned for Crown Street on the western edge of the Wollongong CBD.
The hotel would offer 120-rooms hotel with a national public art competition planned to design a portion of the building’s eastern facade.
“The development has been carefully designed to consider the urban interfaces, building mass and scale, pedestrian and vehicle connectivity, and aims to improve the quality and amenity of the public domain,” said MMJ town planner Luke Rollinson.
If approved, the new hotel would be located next to the Wollongong Mantra hotel.
Destination Wollongong general manager Mark Sleigh has previously voiced his support for more accommodation rooms, saying the city needed two new hotels.
