Perth will host the 14th World Environmental Education Congress in 2026, marking the event’s return to Australia after 15 years.

The decision was unveiled following a collaborative bid led by the Australian Association for Environmental Education (AAEE), supported by Business Events Perth.

“The work we are doing in Western Australia on environmental conservation and education on sustainability puts us as a leading destination,” said AAEE’s Jennifer Pearson and Jason Pitman, who are also Co-Chairs.

“We welcome environmental educators locally and from around the world to attend WEEC 2026 to benefit from international discourse and showcasing best practice.”

The congress is expected to draw hundreds of high-profile delegates to WA which is home to multiple UNESCO world heritage listed sites.

“This congress is another fantastic opportunity to showcase Western Australia and all we have to offer to global leaders, environmentalists and educators from all around the world,” said WA Tourism Minister Rita Safiotti.

“Importantly, these large-scale business events also provide direct benefits to Western Australians, with an increase in visitation set to inject millions of valuable dollars into our local businesses and hospitality providers.”

Business Events Perth CEO Gareth Martin says securing the Congress is testament to WA’s commitment to environmental education and conservation.

“This congress will not only showcase our State as a hub for innovation and knowledge but also stimulate conversations and collaborations that will have a lasting impact on key environmental initiatives,” he said.

“WEEC 2026 reinforces the State’s global standing as a destination for impactful conferences and provides the opportunity to spotlight Western Australia’s commitment to environmental conservation and education to the world.”

Perth’s successful bid to host WEEC 2026 was supported by Tourism Australia’s Business Events Bid Fund Program.
