The City of Perth has ditched its mandate that only the vaccinated could attend the Australia Day Skyworks event saying proof of vaccination will no longer be required.
The City of Perth previously warned that around 80 Covid marshals would be spot checking people’s vaccination status during the event. But it has backtracked after confusion over whether the marshals had to the power to eject someone if they couldn’t show proof of vaccination.
WA Police Minister Paul Papalia said yesterday the vaccination restrictions only applied to indoor events.
“It’s an outdoor event,” he said. “What we have, as I’m aware, as the only restrictions we have on COVID vaccination certificates is for indoor venues.”
The City of Perth released a statement saying they still advised people to get vaccinated and practice social distancing. Masks will also be compulsory.
