Parrtjima – A Festival in Light has wrapped up in Alice Springs attracting 23,220 attendances over 10 nights, some six thousand more than last year.
“We are proud to support this event that shines a light on the rich culture of Central Australia and helps strengthen the local economy,” Minister for Major Events Natasha Fyles said.
“From humble beginnings in 2016, Parrtjima – A Festival in Light has become a world-class festival on the Australian calendar of cultural events.”
Almost 8,000 attendances were recorded for Parrtjima’s opening weekend alone, with this year marking new additions such as the Merne Desert Dinner under the stars and dedicated Parrtjima travel packages.
“As a major festival on the events calendar Parrtjima has certainly helped encourage people to visit the Red Centre, and our operators are seeing the benefits, along with plenty of other local businesses,” said Danial Rochford, CEO of Tourism Central Australia.
The festival will return in 2022 from April 8 to 17.
