Memphis Convention Centre redevelopment eyes international markets

Work has commenced to transform the Memphis Convention Centre into an internationally competitive meetings and convention venue.

Scheduled to take place over the next two years with completion in Autumn 2020, the renovation is the largest civic project in the city since FedExForum was constructed in 2014.

When complete, the Memphis Convention Center will feature a column-free 118,000sq foot main exhibition hall, a new exterior concourse and pre-function space, 46 breakout rooms, a secondary flex space that will convert to a 67,500sq foot ballroom (the largest in the region), and a 28,000sq foot ballroom to host smaller events. The renovation will also include public art, and digital way-finding, and additional loading docks for easier bump in and outs.

The news of the redevelopment has sparked a hotel boom in the area, with 13 hotels under construction or in planning the planning phase.
