Marriott joins the rush for hybrid events

Marriott International is ramping up its hybrid event offering as hotels embrace the new normal following the pandemic’s effects on the meetings sector.

The expansion of Marriott’s ‘Connect with Confidence’ initiative aims to streamline technology with a list of preferred tech providers, in addition to guidelines and information on cleanliness, physical and social distancing requirements, redesigned food and beverage service, contactless check-in for hotel guests, well-being checks and occupancy monitoring.

“Hybrid meetings have become an essential way for meeting and event professionals to provide an immersive, engaging experience that integrates both virtual participation and in-person experiences through technology,” Marriott said in a statement.

“Marriott has curated a list of providers including Encore, Cvent, Convene, MeetingPlay and Hopin that offer technology solutions for hosting hybrid meetings.”

Tammy Routh, senior vice president, global sales organisation for Marriott, said the hotel giant is working with the events sector to navigate this “evolving meetings environment together”.

“We know that meeting and event professionals are currently looking for insights and resources that will help them plan creative and innovative experiences for their customers regardless of whether they are in-person at the hotel or logging in from their home,” she said.

“Meeting and event professionals can work with these leading technology providers to reach a larger audience and incorporate speakers from other locations as they continue to plan future meetings, conferences and events.”

Marriott’s latest announcement follows Hilton Hotels adding EventReady Hybrid Solutions as part of its EventReady program and Accor pledging to have its All Connect program using Microsoft Teams technology available across all its hotels that have meeting rooms by 2022.
