Marriott debuts JW Marriott in the Maldives with new island resort

The JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa has opened on Vagaru island, marking the debut of Marriott International’s JW Marriott brand in the Maldives.

The new resort features 60 villas, which include private pools and wooden sunbathing decks. Duplex Overwater Pool Villas and single-story Overwater Pool Villas are set on stilts overlooking the waters of the Indian Ocean, with a choice of sunrise or sunset views.

While Beach Pool Villas come with direct access to the white sandy beaches of the private island.

The JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa features five restaurants, from classic Maldivian seafood to Thai cuisine on a treetop restaurant, wood-fired brick oven pizzas and Japanese teppanyaki.

Three full-service bars will serve up old and new world wines with over 300 labels to choose from, Japanese sake and handcrafted cocktails with over 98 different types of rum available.

The resort also offers an extensive array of dedicated fitness and spa amenities, along with a daily schedule of engaging and mindfulness-focused activities.
