Kimpton Margot Sydney announces opening team

Adam Leonard who has joined Kimpton Margot Sydney as director of sales and marketing.

Sydney will soon welcome IHG’s luxury global brand Kimpton with the Kimpton Margot Sydney already putting together its team ahead of its opening in January 2022.

Among the key appointments is Adam Leonard who has joined as director of sales and marketing. He was most recently at InterContinental Hayman Island Resort where he was responsible for opening and then reopening the iconic private island.

Kenza Sebti has been appointed director of rooms, returning to Kimpton after earlier spending five years with Kimpton hotels in New York, while Tammy McGregor has been appointed restaurant & bars manager following her role at Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa in the Caribbean.

Shantha de Silva, head of operations at Pro-invest Hotels, said Leonard’s appointment of Adam was a key milestone for Kimpton Margot Sydney ahead of its opening.

“Adam’s experience in luxury hotels and resorts will be of great value to Kimpton, as personalised service combined with highly curated guest experiences is paramount to delivering on the Kimpton brand promise,” said de Silva.

“We know Adam is going to be a key driver of Kimpton’s lifestyle programming which includes experiences such as yoga lessons, art and wine appreciation events and of course Kimpton’s iconic Social Hour, and we are excited to see the programs come to life.”

Located in a heritage-listed 1930s Art Deco building, Kimpton Margot Sydney will offer 172 rooms and suites.

The hotel will also feature a rooftop swimming pool, conference and event spaces and a range of culinary experiences helmed by Luke Mangan, which include a lobby bar, historic cellar, rooftop restaurant and bar, café, and Luke’s Kitchen.

Other new hires at Kimpton Margot Sydney include Jane Thai (director of people & culture); Jorge Tayag (director of engineering); Simon McAllister (senior sous chef); and Christopher Shannon, (director of restaurants & bars).
