Informa posts a profit following ‘robust return of live events’

The world’s largest exhibitions company Informa has seen a return to profit following a rebound of in-person events.

Informa returned a pre-tax profit of £137 million last year against a £1.14 billion loss in 2020.

”The robust return of live and on-demand events, combined with consistent and improving growth at Taylor & Francis, and continued expansion in B2B digital services, gives us confidence of further growth and acceleration in 2022,” said Informa CEO Stephen Carter.

Carter said both exhibitors and attendees were returning to B2B events such as Tissue World Miami and Tourism Plus Shanghai, despite the return of restrictions in some parts of China as it continues to pursue a zero Covid strategy.

China makes up around 13 per cent of the company’s revenues, but Carter said the company had plans in place to alleviate the restrictions including shifting the dates of upcoming events and using alternate venues.
