The 2021 Gympie Music Muster has been cancelled for a second year in a row just weeks before its 40th anniversary due to the continued closure of the border.
Gympie Music Muster chairman Greg Cavanagh said they did not want to jeopardise its financial future by running the Muster this year.
“That’s exactly why we made this decision, we are in a strong financial position and we do have the cash to run an event in 2022,” Cavanagh told the ABC.
“We would put the entire future of this festival in jeopardy if we charged ahead this year — it would be financially catastrophic for us.
“Isolation would be unfeasible and a third of our patrons come from interstate and it would be just financially devastating for us to run this event if all artists and patrons can’t make it.”
The organisers said they were looking ahead to a “bigger and better” celebration in 2022 at Amamoor Creek State Forest.
