Conference centre part of Japan’s first casino development

Japan will build its first casino in Osaka in 2029 after decriminalising gambling venues back in 2018.

The US$8.1 billion casino development in partnership with MGM will also include a hotel, conference centre, shopping mall and museum.

The Osaka Prefecture expects the resort to attract 20 million guests and generate 520 billion yen (US$3.9bn) in revenue a year.

“An integrated resort is important for attracting many tourists, both domestic and international, and to pursue the goal of being a tourism-oriented nation,” said Prime Minster Fumio Kishida.
