Gold Coast City councillors have chosen the board members for the city’s newly merged tourism group Experience Gold Coast with former Premier and Study Gold Coast chair Rob Borbidge appointed chairman.
Other board members include Jackie Cross, director of Cross Promotions International; Louise Bezzina, artistic director of Brisbane Festival; Clark Kirby, CEO of Village Roadshow Group; Kate Jones, former Minister for State Development, Tourism & Innovation; Adam Twemlow, partner in charge at KPMG Enterprise; Danielle McFall-Weiss, HOTA Board of directors; and Rebecca Frizelle, co-owner of Gold Coast Titans.
Mayor Tom Tate said the city is in “very good hands” with the new board, which was chosen from around 100 applicants.
“We are confident we have an extremely committed and passionate group who understand the vision we have for this entity and the Gold Coast,” he said.
“This is a really exciting time for the Gold Coast as we look towards 2032 and we need to keep our eye on the ball, leveraging every opportunity that comes our way.”
The new tourism entity replaces Destination Gold Coast, Major Events Gold Coast, Study Gold Coast, Placemakers and HOTA Gold Coast in an effort to avoid cost duplications.
