The organiser of the annual World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards has announced it will not go ahead with its planned ceremony in June.
The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards were set to be held in Antwerp on 2 June.
“We make a pledge that even though there will be no celebration of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants this year, we will act to support and defend restaurants today and in the future,” said William Drew, director of content at organiser William Reed.
The decision to reschedule the World’s 50 Best to 2021 followed the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants awards ditching its live event for an online format.
“We’ll be working to try and see what we can do, how we can connect people and how we can use our global audience to assist and put restaurants in a better place to recover,” said Drew.
