The WA Government’s investment in bringing major entertainment acts such as Coldplay to the state has the backing of the public, according to Tourism Council WA.
The government secured the band’s only two Australian concerts for Perth.
A recent Tourism Council WA’s survey showed 69 per cent of respondents agreed with State Government investment in major events like the Coldplay concerts, with 21 per cent neutral and 11 per cent disagreeing.
Tourism Council WA estimates the two Coldplay concerts in Perth will bring 40,000 out-of-state visitors to WA who will stay an average of four nights each with a $68 million boost from visitor expenditure.
“The State Government attracting major entertainment acts is fantastic for the tourism industry, and will create jobs in Perth and regional WA,” said Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall.
“I would encourage airlines to make more affordable seats available for the rapid influx of interstate travellers attending the concerts.”
