Virgin Australia has launched a new members lounge so exclusive you can only get in if you’ve received an invitation from CEO Jayne Hrdlicka.

Named the Beyond Lounge, presumably because getting in is beyond almost everyone, the rival to Qantas Chairman’s Lounge has officially launched in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

A select number of high-status Velocity Frequent Flyer members and “key opinion leaders” will be able to enjoy all-day à la carte dining, complimentary beverages and showers if they want to freshen up.

“We are continuing to write a new chapter at Virgin Australia and this is the next wonderful edition of our transformation journey,” Hrdlicka said.

“Virgin Australia is dedicated to providing exceptional service experiences and product offerings at great value prices, and Beyond is a great example of Virgin Australia investing in the products and services our guests value most.”

The secretive lounges also have glass pods, private offices and board rooms for discreet business meetings.

“Last year our members told us privacy, comfort, functional spaces and relaxed dining experiences are important in a private Lounge,” Virgin’s Group Chief Customer and Digital Officer Paul Jones said.

“And this is what we have delivered today,” he said.

Memberships will be reviewed on an annual basis.
