The US is considering to stage a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics in protest against human rights abuses in China.
The Biden administration is expected to announce it will not send an official delegation by the end of the month, according to the Washington Post.
The report follows a virtual summit between President Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping where Biden is believed to have raised human rights abuse issues, according to The Guardian.
“President Biden is always going to be Joe Biden. He is going to be direct and straightforward,” said Jake Sullivan, the US national security adviser.
“And he’s not going to sand down the edges of direct messages on hard issues.”
