The industry has mourned the loss of Bryan Holliday, chairman of ICMS Australasia, who passed away from cancer.
Meetings & Events Australia described Holliday as “a pioneer of the Australian business events industry” who has been involved with MEA from 1978 onwards and was elected national president in 1993.
“Bryan was a strong mentor with a passion for the industry. He was always available to help young people grow their expertise, realise their goals and reach their full potential. He had a firm belief in “hiring for attitude and training for skill” in all staff appointments,” MEA said in a statement.
“He has many friends in the events industry here in Australia and overseas and will be missed by all.
“MEA extends its sorrow and best wishes to Bryan’s wife Emma and the team at ICMS Australasia.”
The PCO Association also paid its respects, saying Holliday had made “an invaluable contribution to the development and growth of the business events industry over many years”.
“Bryan will be greatly missed by our industry,” the PCOA said.
