The Langham, Sydney has appointed Stephen Lech as the new executive chef.
In this role, Lech will lead the culinary programme for all aspects of the hotel from banquet events and weddings, the hotel’s cocktail venue; Observatory Bar and the recently opened luxury buffet, interactive dining restaurant; Kitchens on Kent.
Australian-born, he brings twenty-years’ experience with him to the role and was most recently part of the pre-opening team of three new restaurants in the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney with Trippas White Group.
General manager Gaylord Lamy said the experience Lech brings from both Sydney and London are exactly what the hotel needs.
“We’re extremely excited to have Stephen onboard,” he said. “Our main focus right now is Kitchens on Kent, our newly refurbished, luxury buffet restaurant. I’m confident that with Stephen’s previous buffet and five-star hotel experience plus his passion to focus on local farmers’ produce and his desire to develop his kitchen team, we’ll continue to serve Sydney with the best buffet restaurant in the city.”
Lech said it was privilege to start his new role with the hotel recently named best boutique hotel in Australia.
“My primary focus will be on our restaurant, Kitchens on Kent. I’m excited to build on the culinary excitement, variety and theatre that the restaurant already delivers, but hope to bring my passion for creating dynamic cuisine for people to enjoy,” he said.
“I love the concept of a buffet where the team has the opportunity to be create dishes from all across the globe, with a strong focus on local produce. The more passion and creativity we put into our dishes, the better the experience for our customers and keeps them coming back for more.”
