Thailand’s push make events sustainable with ‘Net Zero Events’ target

Thailand has ramped up its push to become a leading sustainable meetings destination with Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) announcing its journey to a ‘Net Zero Events’ goal, starting from 2023.

Using its Bio-Circular-Green economic model, which is now a national agenda, along with United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, TCEB aims to realise its target of a ‘Carbon Neutral’ MICE industry.

TCEB have also crafted a special support scheme for sustainable events, the main focus of which is the use of minimal resources, such as recyclable or locally-sourced materials or products, the use of electronic mode in event management and food waste prevention.

It has also certified event venues with standards of sustainable development, environment, energy management, and many more such as Thailand MICE Venue Standard and Thailand Sustainable Event Management Standard.

In addition, TCEB, in collaboration with Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization, has created useful tools for organisers to host ‘Carbon Neutral Events’ including a Carbon Footprint Calculator.
