The future of the WA culinary festival Taste Great Southern has been secured for another three years following funding through Tourism WA’s Regional Events Program.

Taste Great Southern will continue to incorporate the Albany Food & Wine Festival, Southern Sets Music Festival, In the Raw Seafood & Wine and dozens of other events across the 11 local government authorities in the Great Southern region.

The 11-day culinary festival taking place in May will see more than 20 leading chefs from across the state participate in over 30 events that will showcase the produce of the region.

The event is expected to attract about 18,000 attendees and more than 3,000 visitors from outside the Great Southern region over the three years.

“Over the past 17 years, Taste Great Southern has grown into one of the State’s top food and wine festivals, and the McGowan Government’s sponsorship until 2024 will see the event flourish even further,” said Tourism Minister Roger Cook.

“Regional events like this one help attract visitors to WA destinations and support the local tourism industry, which has taken a hit due to the Covid-19 pandemic.”
