Tasmanian tourism leader Luke Martin to step down

Luke Martin has resigned from his CEO role at Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania.

Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania CEO Luke Martin has announced he will step down on June 30 after 12 years in the role.

Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania Chair Daniel Leesong said Martin’s departure will leave “big shoes to fill”.

“It’s no coincidence that Luke’s time as CEO coincided with huge growth in the sector,” Leesong said.

“He has been a brilliant, passionate and incredibly effective advocate for our industry.”

Martin said it had been a difficult decision to move on, but the time was right.

“This was more than just a job to me, I’m passionate about the industry and I will miss working with an incredible community,” Martin said.

“However, the time has come to move on and let someone else help guide the industry through its next phase.

“I would like to thank the board and everyone in the industry for their support over the last 12 years.”
