Tasmania’s borders will reopen to South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland, Northern Territory and the ACT from October 26.
Premier Peter Gutwein announced the decision to reopen to “low-risk jurisdictions” but has given no date to when borders will reopen to Victoria or New South Wales.
“New South Wales is looking promising as well but we’ll continue to keep NSW under advisements for the next week or so,” Gutwein said.
However, Gutwein warned the border could close again if things took a turn for the worse.
“We won’t hesitate to change this decision,” he said.
“As we move into the second part of our process and easing our border restrictions, it would be vital that we continue to do the right thing.”
