The Sydney Dog Lovers Show has cancelled this year’s event, with new dates set for August 2022.
Event Management International (EMI) has already rescheduled this year’s show from August to September, but the ongoing lockdown in Sydney forced them to cancel.
“We were confident that moving the event to mid-September would provide enough time for the situation to subside, but unfortunately that’s not the case,” said Jason Humphris, CEO of EMI.
“The health and safety of our community is our number one priority and we never run events unless we can deliver a first-class experience for our loyal visitors, exhibitors and sponsors.”
Before the current NSW outbreak, the Sydney Dog Lovers Show was on track to be EMI’s most successful yet with advanced ticket sales up more than 200 peer cent on the company’s last event in 2019.
“Rescheduling to 2022 enables us to wait for a period where there is more economic stability, lockdowns are no longer the default of governments and a much larger percentage of the population is vaccinated – that’s when we are confident this sector will have a clear path to success and be able to thrive,” said Humphris.
“Our hearts go out to all the other event organisers, suppliers and venues who have been hit so hard once again this year and are dealing with the challenge of not being able to recover substantial financial sums.”
