Singapore hits 70% vaccination milestone as events open up

Singapore has hit a vaccination milestone with 70 per cent of its adult population vaccinated against Covid-19.

Singapore has now eased some of its restrictions for fully vaccinated individuals.

“We will allow for larger event sizes if they are attended by only fully vaccinated persons too,” said Minister of Finance Lawrence Wong.

“Worship services, cinemas, MICE events, live performances, sports events can go up to 500 persons if they are attended by fully vaccinated persons.”

If the situation remains stable, event sizes could increase to 1,000 fully vaccinated people from August 19.

“When 80 per cent of our population are fully vaccinated, we will move to the transition stage and allow further easing of measures,” said Wong.

“We are taking a controlled step by step approach in reopening.”
