Simon Burgess appointed GM at National Wine Centre of Australia

Simon Burgess has started his new role as general manager at Adelaide’s National Wine Centre of Australia (NWC).

Burgess replaces Jason Bird, who is the new chief operating officer at Morphettville Racecourse.

“Looking forward to a fresh challenge and all that lies ahead in this prestigious venue,” Burgess said on LinkedIn.

“A focus for us in coming years will be to secure increased numbers of conferences and events that bring more visitors to South Australia to spend in our city and regions. “Despite the challenges of Covid-19, the connections of the NWC to Lot Fourteen, the University of Adelaide, the investment in new hotel infrastructure and continued development in the city’s East End makes it an attractive business events destination moving forward.”

Burgess stepped away as general manager of Adelaide Convention Centre last month after a decade at the venue.

“Simon has local, national and international experience that will be a huge asset as we strengthen Adelaide’s reputation as a global wine and business events destination,” the National Wine Centre of Australia said in a statement.
