SA events eligible for $25k grants to offset cancellations

Up to $25,000 is on offer for South Australian events that were forced to cancel or suffered a significant financial loss because of the lockdown or social distancing restrictions.

The grants are part of a broader package that includes grants of up to $3,000 for small and medium sized businesses and $1,000 for sole traders in hospitality, tourism and performing arts that have been impacted by Covid restrictions.

Premier Steven Marshall said the grants would help those businesses “that are still experiencing reduced turnover due to the increased restrictions in place post the lockdown being lifted”.

“South Australians have done an incredible job of working together and now is the time to continue to pull together to support our hardworking small businesses who are the backbone of the state’s economy,” he said.

Applications for the grants close on October 17.

South Australia has currently hardened its border to all three eastern mainland states, with Queensland, NSW and Victoria now shut to the state.
