Qatar Airways named world’s best airline

Qatar Airways has been named the is the world’s best airline, with Qantas and Virgin Australia coming in the top 10.

The rankings saw the Qatar Airways knock Air New Zealand off the top spot, with the Kiwi carrier dropping to fourth spot behind Korean Air and Cathay Pacific Airways.

Qantas came in at ninth spot, just ahead of rival Virgin Australia which capped off the top 10, both three places below last year’s results. Virgin Australia did win Best Cabin Crew though, while Qantas won Best Lounges.

“In our objective analysis Qatar Airways came out number one in many key areas although it was a very close scoring for the top 10,” editor-in-chief Geoffrey Thomas said in a statement.

“The passenger reviews however scored Qatar Airways ahead of all airlines and its consistency and high standard of service delivery came through in the feedback.”

Qatar Airways also scooped Best Business Class for the fifth year and Best Catering. Air New Zealand won Best Economy Class while Singapore Airlines took home Best First Class.

Emirates secured Best Premium Economy and Best-in-Flight Entertainment.
