Qantas wants to reward Covid vaccinated passengers with frequent flyer points

Qantas has touted a new plan to reward passengers who get both shots of a Covid vaccine with extra Frequent Flyer points or travel vouchers.

Despite Health Minister Greg Hunt’s assertion that one in five Aussies have been vaccinated, the real figure for Aussies who have had both jabs is closer to 2 per cent.

“We’re still thinking through how this would work, but the incentive could be Qantas points, Qantas or Jetstar flight vouchers, or status credits for frequent flyers,” Chief Customer Officer Stephanie Tully said.

The carrot versus stick approach by Qantas comes as the Federal Government has indicated that international borders will remain closed until at least mid-2022 and Victoria enters its fourth lockdown forcing New Zealand to pause its travel bubble with the state.
