Around 230 leading professional association conferences have been postponed or cancelled because of the coronavirus but a large number of these have been rescheduled their events for either late this year or early next year, according to research by Conference Monitor.
Around 40 per cent of the postponed events are looking for slots at venues in the first half of next year, in what is shaping as a potentially busy time for conference venues.
Many conference organisers are considering how events might run in a Covid-safe environment and are talking with venues about these arrangements.
Among the postponed events, most organisers have indicated they hope to return to the venue they had originally chosen if they can find appropriate dates.
Some 160 associations have opted to completely cancel their 2020 live conferences or hold online events instead. The majority of these expect to resume their normal conference schedules in some form next year.
