Plea to Andrews government to ‘save Victorian events’

The Victorian events industry is sending a message to Premier Dan Andrews.

With Melbourne currently in Stage three restrictions, and the possibility of a total lockdown looming, the Victorian event industry is arguably being hit harder than other states currently.

With no respite on the horizon, the local events industry is looking to send a message to the Victorian government asking for targeted support for their sector.

The support being asked from the Andrews government includes:

  • Funding support for businesses in the event industry – including revisiting the Business Support Fund for the many event industry businesses that have not been eligible.
  • Working with the industry to develop a proactive plan to get events up and running again as soon as it is safe to do so.
  • For the state government, and its agencies, to commit to continuing to hold their events as soon as restrictions are lifted.
