Perth to host the Australian Event Awards

Perth will host this year’s Australian Event Awards following a highly competitive search across capital cities and regional centres across Australia.

The Australian Event Awards and Symposium partnered with Tourism Western Australia, VenuesLive and the Events Industry Association WA to bring the event to Perth on 16 – 18 September.

“The unity presented in the bid, along with the support of Perth Convention Bureau, highlighted a destination that not only wanted to host the Awards but emphasised the value in collaboration and strategic partnerships,” said Ian Steigrad, managing director of the Awards.

“Taking the Awards to Perth is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the destination and gather the industry in Australia’s largest state for the three day immersive program. Optus Stadium’s partnership with the awards as the official venue and catering partner demonstrates their enthusiasm to showcase the newest event venue and possibilities to the events industry.

“Western Australia offers a unique location for hosting public events, business and conference groups and experiences with a difference. Therefore, it’s fitting that the Australian Event Awards and Symposium venture to Perth, to not only expand but highlight the opportunities available to the industry and deliver an Awards Ceremony which is representative of the entire nation.”

WA Tourism Minister Paul Papalia said hosting the awards in Perth provided a valuable opportunity to showcase the city’s transformation to event industry professionals from across the country, as well as Perth’s capability to host major events.

“Perth is very well placed to host this event, offering the world-class Optus Stadium as the venue, as well as some of the best-value hotel and short-stay accommodation in Australia, exciting attractions and a vibrant restaurant and bar scene,” he said.

“I’d like to congratulate Tourism WA, who collaborated with VenuesLive, Perth Convention Bureau and the Events Industry Association of WA to secure this bid.”

The launch of the host destination coincides with the opening of entries for 2019. Event organisers and industry suppliers can now begin their entry at Entries close on 15 July 2019.
