Optus Stadium will host the State of Origin again in 2025 and 2028.

Perth is set to host further NRL State of Origin series games in 2025 and 2028 following the 2022 State of Origin clash, which was a sell-out with a capacity crowd of around 60,000.

It is estimated that a significant number of people will travel for the matches, with a combined total of nearly 20,000 out-of-state visitors coming to WA for the 2019 and 2022 State of Origin games.

The new State of Origin deal follows on from the successful NRL Double Header at Optus Stadium on the weekend which saw around 45,000 NRL fans pack into the stadium to watch the Dolphins take on the Knights.

“WA hosted a sell out event last year when we hosted the State of Origin here,” said Premier Roger Cook.

“It’s a great get to secure a pipeline of events with the additional two games.”

Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti said the future State of Origin matches are another great win for tourism and sport within WA.

“The WA Government continues to bring major sporting and tourism events to our shores with the award-winning Optus Stadium once again taking centre stage,” she said.
