Perth Garden Festival receives council funding before postponing

The City of Perth will part-fund the Perth Garden and Outdoor Living Festival just as organisers announced they will have to postpone due to ongoing Covid restrictions in WA.

The council agreed to give the festival $135,000 in funding this year, $40,000 less than the amount asked for by organisers Nursery and Garden Industry Western Australia.

“When you look at successful garden events across the country and the world. . . this is a fantastic event to have on City of Perth calendar and it just contributes to the diversity on offer,” said Cr Sandy Anghie.

The organisers said the May event would be rescheduled to new dates in October.

“The ongoing COVID-19 Health and Safety protocols could not allow the event to proceed as planned and the festival is rescheduled to take place between Thursday, 27th October to Sunday, 30th October, 2022,” they said on Facebook.
