The Perfect Events Group is celebrating the finale of The Legacy Centenary Torch Relay 2023 following three years of planning and execution, one of the biggest projects the organisation has ever created.
The event is the brainchild of Perfect Events CEO Liliana Sanelli, who came up with the idea in lockdown.
The relay has seen the team meet King Charles III in London, gift rock group Kiss a commemorative torch and garnered a percentage of ticket sales to go towards the charity as well as walk 100’s of kilometres in celebrating 100 years of the charity.
During the past six months 1315 Torch Bearers have carried the torch from France to Belgium, to the UK and then Australia with the help of 1003 volunteers including 180 corporate volunteers.
The torch started its journey in Pozières France on 23 April, with an official Opening Ceremony, then to Menin Gate, Belgium and onto London Legacy where it was met by King Charles III, before arriving in Australia where it has undertaken a six-month journey visiting all Legacy Club locations around the country, culminating in the Melbourne closing ceremony last week.
The celebration ended with His Excellency General David Hurley returning the Centenary Flame to the Eternal Flame to signify the end of the celebratory journey.
“As the relay concludes it has been exciting to look back on what I believe has been an incredible celebration of 100 years of Legacy,” said Sanelli.
“My team and I, assisted by an army of extra special volunteers has brought this huge idea to life and we could not be prouder.
“Most importantly Perfect Events has helped sponsor this relay by donating time, resources, passion and much more over the course of the past three years to ensure we have been able to pay our respects to our Legacy families and keep the undying flame alive for our veterans past and future.”
