Parrtjima’s $10m boost for the local economy

This year’s record breaking Parrtjima – A Festival in Light attracted more than 15,300 unique visitors and delivered an almost $10 million boost to the economy, according to a an independent study commissioned by the NT Major Events Company.

The total number of visitors this year was more than double last year, with 5,200 of those visitors saying the festival was their key motivation for visiting the NorthernTerritory.

“Parrtjima continues to go from strength to strength, with benefits to Territorians building year upon year,” said Major Events Minister Natasha Fyles.

“This research shows investing in events is money well spent, they are a key driver for our tourism and hospitality industries, and are often the deciding factor for sparking someone’s holiday.”
