One of NSW’s best regional restaurants goes into liquidation

Two-hatted restaurant Biota Dining in Bowral has gone into liquidation after months of Covid-19 restrictions and the devastating summer bushfires.

Operated by highly acclaimed chef James Viles, Biota Dining had just $698 in the bank when it slipped into liquidation and owes creditors $761,708, according to a report by insolvency firm SV Partners. It had just $40,698 in assets.

The report suggested the restaurant was “likely insolvent from 1 July 2017”.

Liquidator Shumit Banerjee said that “COVID was the final nail” for the award-winning restaurant.
