The Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC) is looking for new board members to replace vacancies which have become available due to a number of reasons, including retirement and moving interstate.
NTMEC delivers the Territory’s largest events, attracting thousands of people to the NT. Independent research shows just six events delivered by NTMEC in 2021-2022 generated 276,239 visitor nights and an economic benefit of $70.6 million for the Northern Territory.
As well as delivering major events, NTMEC also helps grow industry capability through the Event Funding Program, with around 70 events supported each year.
“Major events are one of the most exciting aspects of Territory life and one of our biggest drawcards for tourists,” said Minister for Major Events, Paul Kirby.
“NTMEC needs people who can help guide them as they continue to evolve and build on the successes of the past few years.
“Their Board is a valuable mix of experience and skills, and members are appointed for an initial term of four years. It’s a lively, professional team and if you’re enthusiastic, and experienced in a range of areas, including leadership, event management, tourism, finance, risk, strategy and governance, this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss.”
