New Tourism Minister for Western Australia

WA Deputy Premier Roger Cook has taken on the tourism portfolio in the latest cabinet reshuffle by Premier Mark McGowan.

Cook was Health Minister was the last five years, but switches into the new role as WA prepares to open up its borders in February.

Tourism Council WA has welcomed the announcement saying it was a good fit alongside Cook’s other economic portfolios of state development, commerce, jobs and trade.

“The appointment of a senior Minister to the tourism portfolio and the alignment with other economic portfolios is welcome as Western Australia reopens, reconnects to the world, and builds its visitor economy,” said Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall.
